In 1939, at the request of the Bishop of Bombay, the English province of our Society founded a University College for Women, in Bombay for girls unable to enrol in colleges staffed by male lecturers. In 1949 our first “mission” adventure was a boarding school for girls (again unable to attend boys’ schools) in Haregaon one of the poorer areas in Maharashtra State. Between 1979 and 1999 several missionaries went into Bihar serving wherever they could. Another mission was opened for the Tribals in Torpa,
Bihar now Jharkhand.
In 2001 the sisters in Patna, opened a non-formal education centre
for the underprivileged children.
